    SBDM Council Minutes

    August 28, 2024

     

    The following council members were present:

    Angela Carter             Taylor Goodman            Julie Vaughn            Janell Wolff                             Tara Woodall                                   Ashlee Zimmer

     

    The meeting was called to order at 3:03pm by Julie Vaughn

     

    RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

    There were no visitors

     

    AGENDA APPROVAL

    Ashlee Zimmer made a motion to approve the agenda, Tara Woodall seconded the motion. Agenda was approved.

     

    APPROVAL OF MINUTES

    No previous minutes were presented.

     

    GOOD NEWS REPORTS:

    Ashlee Zimmer reported that kids are doing well learning procedures and classes are starting to get into curriculum. Mrs. Vaughn reported that the first day of preschool was successful.

     

    INSTRUCTIONAL REPORT:

    No report at this time. Mrs. Vaughn explained that MAPS testing did not happen the first week of school as it had in the past, it will begin the week of Sept. 4th. It was announced that three retired teachers had been hired to serve as Title I teachers for the school year.

     

    DISCUSSION ITEMS:

                Mrs. Vaughn reviewed upcoming events:

    • Monday, September 2 NO SCHOOL for Labor Day
    • Sept 6th Heroes Walk, Dance, 3rd Grade performance
    • Sept 11th KY High Attendance Day; PJ Day
    • Sept 13th Wear Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Day
    • Sept 17th Fall Pictures
    • Sept 19th Dress like a Pirate Day
    • Sept 20th Future Ready Friday, House Meeting
      • Mrs. Vaughn explained Future Ready Friday is a District initiative to promote future ready graduates in Hopkins Co. From 8am-9am students will participate in age appropriate lessons to support the Future Ready initiative
    • Sept 24th KY Kids Day
    • Sept 25th & 26th KDA Mobile Science Unit
    • Sept 27th 3rd grade Harvest Fest
    • October 3rd Career Fair
    • October 4th Fall on the Farm, 2nd grade

    NEW BUSINESS

    • CIA for K & 2nd grade-Mrs. Vaughn is currently reviewing candidates and interviewing. The Board of Education grade approved the hiring of two additional CIA’s due to high enrollment numbers
    • Mrs. Vaughn presented to following items for review and approval:
      • School Map
      • School Schedule
      • Master Schedule
      • School Report Card Platform
      • Open Meetings/Records
      • Emergency Plan + Risk Assessment
        • Ashlee Zimmer ask for clarification on lockdown procedures for staff who are on planning during lockdowns. Mrs. Vaughn clarified instructions for those staff.

    Taylor Goodman made a motion to accept all documents, Ashlee Zimmer seconded the motion.

     

    BUDGET REPORT

    Mrs. Vaughn presented the budget for 2024-25 school year and mentioned additional funding from Title II, Title IV and Title IX. Taylor Goodman made a motion to approve the budget, Ashlee Zimmer seconded the motion.

    AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING (DATE: SEPT 25, 2024)

    Mrs. Vaughn brought up that the Board of Education has requested a wishlist of two-three items to benefit the school. Janell Wolff suggested playground equipment to replace the thirty year old structure that is currently on the playground. Tara Woodall suggested a covering for the car rider area.

    Tara Woodall made the motion to adjourn, it was seconded by Janell Wolff. The meeting was adjourned at 3:37pm.

    November 20, 2024

     

    The following council members were present:

    The meeting was called to order at 3:19pm by Julie Vaughn

     

    RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

    Ashlee Zimmer made a motion to approve the agenda, Janell Wolff seconded the motion. Agenda was approved.

     

    APPROVAL OF MINUTES

    No previous minutes were presented.

     

    GOOD NEWS REPORTS:

    Mrs. Vaughn reported that Thanksgiving Food Baskets for students are covered and Christmas angels are also covered for this year. Mrs. Zimmer reported that decorating for Christmas has begun.

     

    INSTRUCTIONAL REPORT:

    No report at this time. Mrs. Vaughn advised that Winter MAPS testing is approaching and there has been a hot list of kids identified to be worked with that are close to moving levels on testing.

    The meeting was called to order at 3:11pm by Julie Vaughn

     

    RECOGNITION OF VISITORS

    Janell Wolff made a motion to approve the agenda, Ashlee Zimmer seconded the motion. Agenda was approved.

     

    GOOD NEWS REPORTS:

    Mrs. Vaughn reported on 5th Grade Amazing Shake, Archery Team had a great meet, 3 students competed for Academic Team on Tuesday, January 28th for Composition, 4th Grade PLC is doing great things with curriculum work, Mother/Son Bowling Night was a success and Mrs. Goodman has returned from maternity leave.

     

    INSTRUCTIONAL REPORT:

    Mrs. Vaughn reported Fall Semester Honor Roll Recognition went well. A district-wide grant has been received for reading instruction UFLI for K-2 to have unified phonics instruction.

     

    DISCUSSION ITEMS:

                Mrs. Vaughn reviewed upcoming events:

    • February 7th Daddy Daughter Dance
    • Week of 10th: Counselors & FRC Appreciation Week
    • February 10th: Costal Wilds Animal Show

    • February 18th UFLI Walkthroughs & PLCs with Mrs. Mitchell
    • February 28th 5th Grade Living History Museum

     

    NEW BUSINESS

    • Growth anticipated for 2025-26 based on enrollment from past two years. Current projection is 485 plus preschool. There will be a second staffing meeting on 2/19/25 and job postings are anticipated 3/1/25. It is anticipated that we will be keeping the 3 Title I teachers.
